What does HVAC stand for?
HVAC stands for Heating Ventilation Air Circulation
Can I pour bleach down my unit's pipe?
Should I spray my unit with the hose?
Yes you can pour bleach down your unit's drain pipe. We actually encourage you to do it! The bleach will help to keep the drain pipe from clogging. We suggest to do this every time you change your filter.
Rinsing off your unit will help to keep it clean and running smoother. A great time to rinse your unit out is when you are finished mowing your yard.
How often should I change my filter?
Your air filter should be changed every 30 to 60 days. Some of the factors that affect your air filter are where you live, how much dirt tends to be present in your home/area, if you have pets, and if you are doing construction/remodeling. A great way to remember to change your filter is to change your filter when you pay your electricity bill.
Should I cover my unit?
Covering your unit may help in preventing unwanted debris from building up in and around your unit. However, it would cause issues for your unit. The unit will attempt to compensate and run more. If it begins to run extra for a long period of time it will lead to damaging components of the unit leading to repairs. We would only suggest covering a unit if you are leaving it off for a long period of time while you are gone and do not need to run the unit.
How often should I have my unit serviced?
Having scheduled check-ups for your unit will help to keep your unit running smoothly. It will also help keep major repair costs at a minimum. We recommend 2 preventive maintenance appointments a year. One in the spring and the other in the fall. Check out our preventive maintenance information for prices and benefits.
How do I extend the life of my unit?
The best way to extend the life of a unit is to take care of your unit. Scheduling preventive maintenance, changing your air filter, keeping the area around your unit clean, and keeping your unit clean of debris are a few of the ways to extend the unit's life. Reducing the usage of your unit is also another option.
